Last Tuesday I assigned myself to cook our dinner. Knowing we had chicken breasts in the fridge I thought of a way on how to cook it. Then it hit me, I can make Cordon Bleu with this.

So here is my recipe for a simple take on the Cordon Bleu with a simple homemade Tartar Sauce. Hope you like it!

Ingredients:

For the chicken

Chicken Breasts (Butterflied)

Bacon

Carrots (Cut into strips)

Cheese (Cut into strips)

Salt

Pepper

Garlic Powder (My favorite spice! If possible I will always cook with this!)

Flour

Panko (Japanese Breadcrumbs)

Eggs

Note:

I didn't put specific quantities for each ingredient. It's up to you how much you want to put/use!

For the Tartar Sauce

1/3 cup Mayonaise

Fresh Lemon juice

4 cloves of Garlic (Minced)

Salt

Pepper

Equipment needed:

Cling wrap

Rolling Pin

Toothpicks

Procedure:

1. Blanch carrot strips then set aside.

2. Lay butterflied chicken breasts on chopping board and on top of it place cling wrap. Then flatten out the chicken breast by gently hitting it with the rolling pin.

3. Remove the clingwrap and set aside. Season the chicken with salt, pepper, and the garlic powder. (You can add other spices of your choice.)

4. Cut strips of bacon and lay them side by side until the chicken is covered with an ample amount of bacon.

5. Place carrots on one side of the chicken perpendicular to the bacon strips. Beside it place cheese strips in the same manner.

6. Gently roll the chicken breast and wrap in cling wrap until it's like a piece of candy wrapped in foil. Puncture with toothpicks to hold in place.

7. Place in the fridge to set aside. While this is happening, prepare the breading.

8. Mix flour with ample amount of salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Beat eggs with small amount of salt and pepper. Then mix breadcrumbs with salt and pepper.

9. Take the chicken out of the fridge and start coating it with the breading. Start with the flour then the eggs and finally the breadcrumbs. Then set aside.

10. Deep fry in oil on medium heat until golden brown.

Pre-heat oven at 180 °C or 355 °F

11. Place chicken on oven safe pans and bake for 10 minutes then take it out to rest.

12. Slice then serve!

For the Sauce.

1. Mix Mayonaise, Lemon juice, Garlic, salt, and pepper. Then serve with the chicken!
